Agadir could be located in almost any country in the world. The fact that it is in Marocco is just a coincidence. It is made for the charter tourist, and especially families and the elderly. As a young person, you will not find anything in Agadir not found 100 other places in the world.
But the good thing, is that because of all the people who come here, there are a lot of flights into Agadir, and so you can fly to Agadir for a small amount of money. About 3000NOK for a return ticket from Norway. And most of the major bus companies have stops there, so you can get anywhere. And it is not very expensive. A one way to Marrakesh will set you back 70dh. Trains are not an option, as the railway does not go this far south.
As hotels go, most are ok. I stayed at the Hotel Adrar at the beach, and it is nice and clean. Just don't eat in the resturant. This goes for most hotels. They are not too special and are bloody expencive. Some of the resturants along the beach are ok, but the best and cheapest food is found further up in the city and in the souk. You should be able to get a decent lunch for 15dh. Just stay away from guides in the souk in Agadir. They will hassle you, and they will try to con you. I was walking around looking for flowers when this guy asked me if I was looking for something in particular. I answered flowers, and then he said flowers were sold further down in the city. But he did not tell me right away. Oh no. First he took me to a friends herb shop, where I was bullied into buying a piece of amber. And the only reason I got away so easyily, was due to the fact that I didn't have any more money. And then he demanded I pay him for leading me to this wonderful shop. Argh! Idiots like these give Morrocco a bad name.
Anyway, you can lounge by the beach/pool in Agadir, and you can use it as a base for further travels. But for anything else it is useless. Everything is more expensive and of lesser quality than elsewhere in Morocco. So get on the bus-quick.
